Code Compliance Supervisor/Division Head

Jackson Township seeks qualified candidates for a full-time Code Compliance Supervisor/Division Head to manage the Division of Code Compliance which encompasses Code Enforcement, Housing and Animal Control. Under direction of the Business Administrator, responsible for all division activities including code/zoning/housing compliance/enforcement, staffing, and budgeting. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree conferred from an accredited college or university and minimum of two (2) years of experience in zoning involving the issuance of permits and enforcement of zoning ordinances and regulations; candidates who do not meet the educational requirement may substitute additional work experience as described below, on the basis of one year of such experience being equal to thirty (30) semester hour credits; possession of a master’s degree in business administration from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the above-required work experience. Must have strong customer-service focus, excellent interpersonal/communication skills and be computer proficient. Salary: DOQ with excellent benefits. Duties Include: (Not an exhaustive list)

*Plans, coordinates, staffs, prioritizes, monitors, directs, evaluates and participates in the Township's code enforcement activities, involving zoning ordinances, housing codes, public nuisances, property maintenance, abandoned vehicles, animal control, license regulations and other issues relating to health, safety and welfare of the community; ensures safe work practices, work quality and accuracy.

Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are consistent with local, state and federal regulations; stays current on related policies, regulations and trends.

Participates in the development of assigned budget; administers and monitors the approved budget; maintains supply inventories and supply and budgetary records.

Addresses and responds to service questions, inquiries and complaints; establishes and maintains a customer orientation with assigned division.

Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies and associations, Township management, staff, and the public.

Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
